Annual lawn aeration plays a vital role in any good lawn care program. By breaking down compact soil and thick thatch, this process allows oxygen, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This will help create a stronger, healthier and more vibrant lawn.
Lawn Aeration
Let Your Lawn Breathe.
At Maggio, we recommend liquid aeration. Liquid aeration offers 100% coverage and has the ability to penetrate to the deepest levels of your soil without the risk of harming your irrigation system or leaving cores on your lawn.

What is thatch?
Thatch is the layer immediately below the green of your grass made up of the roots, stems and other organic matter. It can get too thick for number of reasons including poor aeration, too much water and too much nitrogen.
Why is thick thatch bad?
Too much thatch will act like a barrier between your grass and the soil blocking it from absorbing nutrients, oxygen, water and sunlight.
How do I know if I have clay soil?
It could be clay soil if:
- it has a grey or red hue instead of dark brown
- water doesn’t absorb but instead puddles
- it cracks in dry weather
Try a squeeze test: wet a bit of soil and squeeze it. Does it keep its shape if you poke it? If yes, it’s likely clay soil.
Can I walk on my grass right away after aeration?
We recommend allowing the product to dry before using the lawn.
How often will I need to water after the application?
You’ll need to water your lawn for 20 minutes per area, 3x per week.
When is the best time to aerate my lawn?
Liquid aeration can be applied in the spring or fall. Deep penetration of oxygen and nutrients will promote a healthy root system which allows your grass to withstand stressful conditions.
How much does it cost?
